William Brown MD, FACOG

Dr. Brown is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He earned his medical degree from East Carolina University School of Medicine, as well as undergraduate and graduate degrees from East Carolina University. He completed his residency training in family medicine from East Carolina University followed by completion of residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. Dr. Brown is a member of the American Medical Society and served as President of the NC Obstetrics & Gynecology Society.

He is a native of Beulaville, NC and enjoys boating, tennis and the beach. Dr. Brown is married to Sylvia T. Brown, EdD, RN, CNE, Dean and Professor at the East Carolina University College of Nursing, and has two daughters. He established Greenville Women’s Care with Dr. Andrew Haven in 1987.

Paige Fisher, MD, FACOG

Dr. Fisher is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She earned her medical degree from East Carolina University School of Medicine and completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Dr. Fisher received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of South Florida where she played collegiate tennis

A native of Rocky Mount, Dr. Fisher’s hobbies include playing tennis, running and gardening. She joined Greenville Women’s Care in 1999.

Esther Smith, MD, FACOG

Dr. Esther R. Smith earned her medical degree from the University of Virginia’s School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Christiana Care Health System in Newark, Delaware, where she was the chief administrative resident. Dr. Smith received her BS in Biology and Anthropology from the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Prior to joining Greenville Women’s Care, Dr. Smith was practicing at A Woman’s Place in Fayetteville, NC. During her time there, she was a volunteer physician at the Cumberland County Public Health Department, where she received the Partners in Public Health Award for her work with the Teen Contraception Center. Dr. Smith has also done international work as a volunteer obstetrician-gynecologist in Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala.

Dr. Smith’s professional interests are contraception and laparoscopic gynecology. She enjoys giving lectures regarding the broad field of OB-Gyn. She enjoys spending time with family, attending church and riding her bike. She is looking forward to trying out the famous Greenville BBQ circuit!

Kaebah S. Orme-Evans, MD, MPH, FACOG

Dr. Orme-Evens joined the Physicians East family in November 2023. She is a board-certified OB/GYN and practices at Greenville Women’s Care.

She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology (ACOG). She joins Greenville Women’s Care with almost five years of experience and extensive awards and accolades. Before joining the PE and GWC family, she practiced at WakeMed and has received the prestigious Leonard Tow Award for Humanism in Medicine, presented by The Arnold P. Gold Foundation.

In her spare time, Dr. Orme-Evans can be found outdoors at the beach, in the mountains, or simply walking through her neighborhood with her husband and four children.

Tess Garland, CMN, MSN, RN

Tess Garland is a highly skilled and experienced nurse-midwife. Before joining Physicians East, she worked at ECU Medical Center, specializing in Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby, Antepartum, and Stork services. In her role, she provided direct patient care during labor, monitored fetal health, assisted in deliveries, assessed fetal and newborn conditions, and served as a nurse in the operating room.

With a robust educational background in nursing, Tess holds multiple advanced degrees. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from SUNY Brockport and a Master of Nursing as a Certified Nurse-Midwife from Frontier Nursing University. To educate and train future nurses, she also obtained a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Roberts Wesleyan College.

Demonstrating her expertise and commitment to her profession, Tess holds several certifications and licenses. She is a Certified Nurse-Midwife and a Registered Professional Nurse. Additionally, she has certifications in Maternal Newborn Nursing (RNC-MNN), Electronic Fetal Monitoring (RNC-EFM), and the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), among others.

Outside of her professional life, Tess enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their four children, often visiting the beach to relax and unwind. She practices yoga and is a certified instructor. In addition to spending time with her family and practicing yoga, Tess has a deep appreciation for music, which she listens to regularly as a way to relax and rejuvenate.
